I am a registered user of IGN and take its gaming reviews very seriously. In a Facebook thread from The Astonishing School of Gifted Nerds, a large number of responses were registered most recently where video gamers from all around the world participated to give their individual opinion with top-five votes for video games on any platform.
I shall be listing some surprising results here that resemble the all popular list of 2013 personal computer games!
First of all, there is no perfect game! A lot many gamers are into the whole series of one typical action game. A huge number of people have profoundly acknowledged having spent so many hours of their lives on selected few games of their individual liking.
Old people choose Arcade Games even though the graphics suck and the controls are horrible still reminiscing their childhood. The oldest of the computer games being Pong. Whereas current players choose role-playing games because of the gameplay of such masterpieces as alien warfare (2019).
Online community games have their own charm
Participant gamers base gameplay is more important than the game’s graphics and ambiance with comments like “Best Beat ‘Em Up & Game Music”. The game producers also base the story on legends and legacy hence a lot many story-based games are effectively some Chronicles of some superhero or folklore.
I Met So Many Amazing People Playing This Game (Destiny)
Out of 1288 responses opinions shared (of people choosing video games they were still playing or liked the most), the top ten shared 368 votes, top 20 shared 558 votes, top 30 shared 694 votes. For the Top 5 gaming picks, I will now dissect the information one by one,
Number 1: Final Fantasy 7
Although the variation of Final Fantasy choices was huge due to multi-platform availability, FF7 won the limelight and hence all the votes are transferred judiciously to this version of 1997. Despite this, Final Fantasy Tactics has some resonance and disruption at the same time.
Final Fantasy – All Of Them Minus The Online Ones — One of the gamers. Online platforms have their woes too.
Number 2: The Legend of the Zelda: Ocarina of Time
To me, this was the most astonishing choice because people remembered this game with tons of entry name variations and it was hard to compile the results.
Two honorable mentions go to this Nintendo/PC game, A Link to the Past and Wind Waker. Yet the votes were judiciously transferred in favor of Ocarina of Time despite a lot many versions that have been released since first launch in 1986.
Number 3: The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
What a choice, although people also voted for Oblivion, but the votes were again eclipsed in the gravity of Skyrim. This is the fourth best selling Xbox 360 game.
The Skyrim gameplay is P.E.R.F.E.C.T.
Gamers have an inclination towards mostly Original PC Version. Some responses are all about diving into characters meaning need for detail and decision making with comments like “Greatest Rpg Ever”
Number 4: Mass Effect 2
A third-person shooter game won discrete 35 votes which constitute 13 % of the total votes in favor of top 5 picks.
Number 5: Fallout 3
Although with one vote difference, I wanted GTA V: San Andreas to win but that too had a split vote in GTA Vice City favor despite that votes each of these secured were later collated. Anyhow, Fallout 3 is a premium user choice. Fallout 3 got 31 votes means for a 300 responses, 10% agreed that this was one of their best 5 selections.
Here is the top list of gamers that secured 10 votes or more from a group of three hundred and thus deserve an honorable mention (the ones in the bold, I have played myself):
- Final Fantasy 7 95
- The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 62
- The Elder Scrolls 5 : Skyrim 39
- Mass Effect 2 35
- Fallout 3 31
- Grand Theft Auto V 30
- Super Smash Bros (Melee*) 29
- Super Mario World 24
- Halo 23
- Mario Kart 64 23
- Red Dead Redemption 2 22
- Resident Evil 4 21
- Pokemon 20
- Bioshock Infinite 19
- Dragon Age Origins 18
- The Witcher 3 18
- The Last Of Us 17
- Borderlands 2 16
- Kingdom Hearts 16
- God Of War 15
- Golden Eye 15
- Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater 15
- Street Fighter iii: Third Strike 14
- Uncharted 14
- Warcraft 3 14
- Chrono Trigger 13
- Batman Arkham City 12
- Capcom (vs Snk/ vs Marvel) 12
- Dark Souls 12
- Half Life 2 11
- Need For Speed Most Wanted 11
- Tekken 11
- Spider-Man Ps4 10
One aspect of these results is that midterm releases of individual games are chosen in abundance. I am personally impressed with gears of war 4 gameplay. This narrates the gaming age of the community to be not very immediate or very early but in times of people who started playing games near the millennium and had some reminiscing thoughts about them.
Gamers are profound of modded communities where certain gameplay is modified with expansion packs
Usually Modded Nowadays But I Like The Vanilla Game Too; Don’T Like M2Tw Much Though
A lot of people tried to come up with difficult yet unique game choices to sound cool or justify the time they spent in relatively unknown games, thereby, giving their opinion in full right to bring in raised eyebrows or inviting cynicism. In case you are wondering what were my top fives or am I biased, they are i. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, ii. Medal of Honour Allied Assualt, iii. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, iv. Kingdoms, and iv. Mark of Kri. I am also amazed to not find Dota 2 much or Age of Empires.
